As a kid, Laura started her career by designing birthday cards and team sweatshirts in Microsoft Publisher.
“Mid-career”, Laura stumbled into her first high school digital art class – this was a pivotal experience where she learned professional design tools and techniques. Laura went on to receive her BFA in Graphic Communication at Northern Michigan University. During this formal training, Laura focused on creating cohesive design systems across websites, printed materials, videos and animations.
In 2011, Laura settled in Minneapolis to spend the next six years developing expertise in UX, UI and Service Design at Azul Seven. Today, Laura is a Sr. Consultant on Slalom's Experience Design team, where she continues to partner with clients, end-users and engineering teams to create online / offline solutions with a human-centered approach. Laura also specializes in the human-centered design approach "Design Thinking Methodology".
Outside of work, Laura can be found hiking, trying to fish, biking, camping, enjoying dog-friendly patios, and cruising down snowy slopes.
Laura’s creative side has dabbled in weaving, sewing, pottery throwing, screen printing, and floral centerpiece design.
